Sick as a Dog
I've spent the past several days getting over a sickness that I can't seem to shake. Body chills, body aches, cough, sore throat, and a fever that won't go away. But as inconvenient as being ill is, it's amazing how God will take that situation and teach you so much.
I ended up in an urgent care facility on Friday after work. I had persistent body chills, body aches, and by the time work ended, I had a fever. My doctor's office was closed and chose Urgent Care as opposed to the Emergency Room. They ruled out H1N1 and seasonal flu and told me I had some "virus." They prescribe Motrin, Tylenol, Vitamin C, and Zinc....and yes, I'm just waiting on Aetna to deny this claim. It almost would seem odd if they didn't.. Anyway, the Motrin killed the fever....just for it to come back 24 hours later. I went through that twice this weekend. It was a long weekend.
What really shocked me is the conversation I had with my doctor today. He was a new doctor. When the nurse walked out, he asked me questions I told him that I'm not on birth control because I didn't want to have sex.. He was intrigued, to the point that he paused to ask me why. I told him I want to wait until I'm married...and from that he said, I sense that you're a Christian. Our conversation continued, and I watched him talk about the things of God, how God grants mercy and favor to whoever he chooses. He didn't know it, but he encouraged me in the small words he gave. I've never had a man I don't know encourage me to live a celibate life. He literally patted me on the back and tapped my knee and said yes, yes. you are doing a good thing. If I could have, I would have hugged him. He has no idea how much he blessed me.
