Small Victories
Today was a day of many victories. I started the day on a positive note from a very positive weekend. We (Tyler and I) spent it with a good friend and we went to the local fair. GOOD TIMES! Tyler had a ball. Watching him take it all in and run around was pure enjoyment. I look forward to more days like this.
Tyler started his new daycare and things went better than I could have hoped for. His therapist came during the day to check on him and commented that she was surprised at how well he did (paying attention and staying engaged) He seems to have adjusted well and based on the written progress report for the day, his teachers agree with me. He ate all his food, took a 1.75 hour nap (unheard of!) and did well during circle time. I was THRILLED when I picked him up today, seeing him happy and in a great mood. There is so much worry that goes through you as a parent when it comes to caring for your child. I thank God that this move has gone so well thus far.
What was equally surprising, yet satisfying, is that my son's old daycare called me to see how he was doing. Dian, his old caregiver, called me this evening and wanted a full report as to how Ty was doing. What I loved the most about his old daycare is the bond that was created with Dian's family. I've come to know all of her children and watched one go through high school, graduate, get married, and conceive a child. I've watched others lose jobs and go through engagements. It was almost like Ty and I were a part of the family. They are people that I believe will always be in our lives.
In other positive news, I got a phone call from a doctor's office that I visited nearly a year and a half ago for an office visit and a colonoscopy. They wanted to bill me $683 for a doctor's visit that my BFF's at Aetna would not cover. Shocker. Apparently, the doctor's office was battling it out all this time with Aetna and finally got tired and came to me. Wow...someone other than me is battling with Aetna. They said Aetna denied the claim (get out of town!) due to not receiving a referral. I called my primary care physician to see if they could scrounge up a referral from 2008....I need not mention that I was LIVID when I received all this splendid news. Anyway, my primary looked into it, called me back 20 minutes later, and let me know that they called the specialist's office back to inform them that it was their responsibility to get a referral, not mine. Therefore, they need to write off the bill....and they did. WOW! The funny part is that the $683 is only for an office visit. The colonoscopy was another $860....and with one phone call it all disappeared, the entire $1,500 bill. THANK YOU JESUS! if only my mortgage could disappear like that!
